Rain Dance UU Team
Decided to make a UU team working around Rain Dance. Very new and looking to make this perfect before I start work on it!
Changes are italic.
Lickilicky @ Damp Rock
Own Tempo - Impish - EVs?
* Rain Dance
* Heal Bell
* Earthquake
* Explosion
Sets up the rain, takes down something if it can - high defensive stats, so I should be able to stay around until his HP is low, when I can Explode with STAB. T
Ludicolo @ Leftovers
Rain Dish - ?HP/?SpD
* Substitute
* Leech Seed
* Toxic
* Giga Drain
Just keeps gaining and sucking away at life O_O
Absol @ Choice Scarf
Super Luck - 252 Atk/252 Speed/6 HP
* Night Slash
* Psycho Cut
* Superpower
* Pursuit
Unaffected by whether it rains or not, Absol has a good chance of critical hits and can take out Toxicroak's weaknesses. Pursuit is good for hitting those that would switch out of an Absol, but the threat of Acid Rain worries me a bit. Also, I love the face out of Absol.
Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Dry Skin - 252 Atk/252 Speed/6 SpD
* Cross Chop
* Gunk Shot
* Ice Punch
* X-scissor
Dry Skin will heal away Life Orb damage with a net gain. Life Orb boosts power of Toxicroak's wide range of moves after Absol takes away any threats.
Dewgong @ Damp Rock
Hydration - 252 SpA/252 HP/6 Speed
* Surf
* Ice Beam
* Rain Dance
* Rest
Must be annoying to kill a Pokemon that gets a free Full Restore whenever its HP gets low with Rest + Hydration. (:
I have one more slot that I don't know what to do with!
Options:
Gorebyss @ Life Orb
Swift Swim - Modest - 252 SpA/220 Speed/36 HP
* Psychic
* Hydro Pump
* Shadow Ball / Signal Beam
* Hidden Power...?
I like Gorebyss, and for no reason there's not all that much Special going on on my team. There's a good movepool to pick from - I like having Psychic and something that takes down Psychic. But what for the last move? I was thinking Bounce, but it seems silly for a two-turn with low accuracy. I just don't know if I can properly manipulate a Hidden Power like that. (And if I did... Ground?)
Kabutops @ Life Orb
Swift Swim - Adamant - 72 HP/252 Atk/184 Speed
* Swords Dance
* Stone Edge
* Aerial Ace
* Waterfall
Boosted physical moves, two with STAB and one for better coverage.

I would suggest ice beam + Hp elec on ludicolo and give Toxicroak Sucker Punch instead of gunk shot.

Gorebyss is a great swift swimmer!
As well as Omastar and Kabutops, but those are all attackers and not support.
your Lickilicky should either be calm or bold nature, since you really want that thing to be able to keep coming back in and setting up rain until it explodes, you might also think about giving it support moves like Heal Bell, Knock Off, or Toxic instead of attacking then exploding after it sets up the rain.

It would probably be better with impish since its a physical attacker and bold/calm both lower attack.

I was thinking that too but it has Thunder and explosion is going to do a lot either wayitachi64 wrote:It would probably be better with impish since its a physical attacker and bold/calm both lower attack.

I agree with the aforementioned- Gorebyss/Huntail might be a nice last addition, both of them being really good in general. Nice attacks, fast, all that jazz.

I would suggest something unexpected on lickilicky, like 126 hp, 126 atk, 126 def, 126 sp def XD.

Re: Rain Dance UU Team
Tachi's right, probably impish. I could take off Thunder, though it makes me woe, to put in Heal Bell. A well-rounded Licky? Maybe..
Definitely thinking I'd prefer the supporting set on Ludicolo.
Do I want an attacker or a spacker for my slot then?
That's the difference between huntail/kabutops and omastar/gorebyss. Frankly I like kabutops and gorebyss which comes down to physical or special?

Re: Rain Dance UU Team
Kabutops is a perfect addition, jolt, but for variety, if Omastar can learn rain dance, maybe try him? Mix it up a little, throw off the opposition, plus he's more defensive. Might help more than Kabutops.

Re: Rain Dance UU Team
Where's the variety? >> Except Omastar is special and a /little/ more defensive. Either way they're weak to special electric and grass moves, and Kabutops is faster.
Gorebyss if I go special, which I think I'll do. She's got some variety the rest of my team just lacks.

If you're going special i would definately suggest kingdra, with a mixed set possibly, those can cause mayhem.

Re: Rain Dance UU Team
You need Rain Dance on more than just your lead. If he gets taunted or KO'd, or your rain just gets stalled out, your team is dead in the... lack of... water.

Wow. I just woke up to hammers pounding on the side of my bedroom, I guess Rain Dance reads Hydro Pump to the sleep-deprived. Sorry Jolt, carry on.

Thats what I was going to say.
Also for a UU Rain Dance Team why don't you have a Lanturn, to take care of generic Electric weakness for a RD team, it can also learn RD and Thunder

I do have Lanturn, a bulky sweeper set for my Electric team. All I'd have to do is switch Thunderbolt for Thunder... but where does he fit? Instead of Gorebyss/Kabutops or somewhere else? Because then I'd have a rain dance team without a swift swimmer..
