Which starter should I take?

I just got hg which starter chikorita or totodile

Neither! I think you should take Cyndaquil!

Chicorita is, IMO the worst starter of the three.
It's stats just aren't great for in game fighting.
cyndaquil is ok, but there are alot of good fire types in game, so I'd personally choose tododile.
It can learn super power naturally, and that's always nice to have

Go with Totodile!!! He's like a cooler version of Gyarados, IMO. And he's really fun to use.

well i have soul silver which i almost beat and i used cydaquil so i want either chikorita or totodile but i think i'm just gonna pick one trade to ss and retsart and get the other and trade back

go with totodile. hes a great starting pokemon to help you through the game.

cynda is cool too...but u could get a magby or a growlithe in its place if u want...

no matter the cahllenge level go with cyndaquil. But if you want a challenge pick chikorita. My personal favorite is cyndaquil though and if you have wifi then it won't really matter which you pick because you can get others later off people on wifi.

I regret choosing cyandiquil, but i would go with chicorita.

i chose chickorita in my regular gold and i liked it but when soul silver came out i chose cynaquil both are amazing choses haven't tried out totodile cuz totodile i thought wasn't really impressive but when i got it in a trade it was good all three are amzing but i would go with chickorita cuz thats the real tricky road and its the under rated 1 unlike totodile and cynalquil who both are very over rated but if you chose chickorita in most opions you are probs have tons of guts and really cool

It isn't the weakest, it's just underrated. Any choice is fine, there is just set difficulty levels for each.

Choose cyndaquil, awesome moves especially if it knows rollout and solarbeam.
