Which Kanto/Hoenn Starters Should i Take

Charmander, Bulbasur, Or Squirtle/ Mudkip, Treecko, or Torchic

Treecko and Squirtle! I just like them as my favorite, but I have no clue about competitive play :Wink:

Charmander / Mudkip is the best combo if you're looking for competitive value, although Squirtle is a good rapid spinner.....And Bulbasaur is good for support, but I still think Charmander / Mudkip is the best.

Mudkip and probably squirtle.
Charizard is quad weak to rock, and that always seemed like a hinderance to me.
Once mudkip becomes swampert, it's a great pokemon

Choose Swampert, it's awesome despite its high weakness to grass types. I'd still recommend Charizard for a kanto starter

I would probably choose Charmander and Treeko, Sceptile is a beast, and Charizard is just plain cool.

Charmander is the only starter that can eventually learn fly, so I would recommend that for the Kanto starter so you don't have to catch a below average pokemon like Pigeot.

Edit: Woah, I just realized this is in the wrong section. Moving to general because HG/SS starters are Johto.
